Please consider installing mudflaps on your ride, particularly in the PNW where they dump rocks on the road rather than use salt. We were cruising down I-5 last week enjoying the drive when a vehicle in front of me threw a rock. Bang. Broken windshield. I had a $250 deductible, and I also had to take the car to the dealer to re-calibrate the sensors that are part of the windshield (rain sensors, etc). Completely avoidable if people throw on a set of mudflaps; I put a set of OEM’s ($75) on my Taco, took half an hour. No worries about chipping the paint on the truck, and more importantly I won’t inconvenience others. Do the right thing, snowflake.

At least in California it’s mandated under the Vehicle Code for vehicles over a certain height (ie: trucks). But no one actually listens to that, and CHP is too lazy (and are short staffed) to do anything, and PD and Sheriff’s are wayyyy too lazy to ever do any code enforcement.

Reminds me of the hauler trucks around here with “keep back. Not responsible for windshield damage” meanwhile the cover to the bay is left down so shits just flying out the top.

I just ordered a set for my F150 this week. But I don’t spend much time on I5, mainly 405.

Same here, I mostly use 405 but we were driving back from Vancouver B.C. to Bothell. I have mudflaps on all three of my vehicles: Cayman, Focus, Taco

I know I should, but I haven’t. I really should given that I tow a trailer, but I just haven’t gotten around to it. I know.

Ha Ha! I live in Bothell!

This. So much this. It’s not even all about the gravel but the water spray too. I think the lifted SUVs might be worse than the pickups since they don’t have the bed to help things.

I know in some states, it’s a requirement for trucks. Mine came with them, but I have trimmed them. OEM Taco ones hang ridiculously low, I was scraping them pulling into the driveway.

technically Utah is one of those states...no one has ever asked about it.

I can’t see if being a commonly enforced law. I was initially going to pull them off my truck prior to my cross country trek last year when I read about it. Knowing my luck, I would’ve been turned away at the border in Canada without them.

Eastern WA here and we seem to use mostly liquid chemical deicer

On account of our state being mostly made of rock, I get tons of cracked windshields. I’ve had three this year already. I’ve had zero deductible glass coverage since I started driving.
I need flaps on my Jeep, although I don’t think I have ever seen a Jeep with mudflaps.

Also, too, if you’re going to put on wider than stock tires that extend past the body, please consider installing fender flares.

Happens a lot in Colorado too for the same reason. You’ll see more cracked windsheilds that non-cracked. Most people end up waiting till they get 3 or 4 hits, or it’s in their line of sight looking forward before they replace it.
When I moved there I drove 1500 miles with no issues, and 10 mins across the border BAM, cracked windsheild.
